The distribution of Gun making and how companies' launch gun safety programs The current distribution strategy There is a very large and illegal secondary market that makes the guns to be easily available globally to the juveniles, the criminals and the other people who have been prohibited by the law from the acquisition of these products. For many years in the gun industry there are several means by which the very large quantities of guns are diverted from the proper distribution channels to the illegal market. On the other hand despite their knowledge of the widespread diversion of their products the gun manufacturers have however not taken and steps but they have on the other hand maintained the distribution systems which funnel the guns to the to the illegal market and the traffickers. However there has been a launch on the gun safety programs that have instigated various distribution strategies. The action program has a very effective current distribution strategy. The strategy ensures that the program will work so as to bring very significant changes in the way in which the gun industry makes its distribution of the firearms. The strategy aims at limiting the ease with which the juveniles and the criminals can obtain the guns since this is a very critical issue globally. On the other hand the strategy regulates the gun manufacturers who distribute guns through systems that are known to divert a large numbers of the guns to the illegal secondary markets. Similarly the strategy focuses on reducing the steady supply of the weapons to the criminals and the juveniles and also the circumventing of the federal and state laws that have been designed to prevent the acquisition of the guns by such individuals. The action program has the following strategies in gun distribution The litigation strategies- this are strategies that are aimed at holding the gun manufacturers accountable for the distribution of the illegal firearms to the criminals as well as the juveniles. This is done through the legal justice system that has been working as a very powerful tool in effect to the social justice. Through this strategies there are efforts being made so as to hold responsible the gun companies which are liable for the unsafe weapons and the dangerous distribution of such weapons. Legislative strategies- this strategies are laid down so as to ensure that there is prevention of child access to the guns, there is restriction of the guns possession on the juveniles, there is Limitation of concealed weapons, there are requirements for the background checks on the guns and also waiting periods, there is licensing on gun owners and there are limits in purchases of the private gun. Community based prevention strategies- these strategies provides alternatives for the youths through programs such as community policing through which the distribution of the illegal firearms is directly monitored by the members of the community. This could however limit the distribution of the firearms thus providing safety to the communities. The effectiveness of the current distribution channels The current gun distribution channels make the guns available to the criminals and also the juveniles through a number of ways such as the straw purchases whereby an individual who is prohibited by the law from buying a gun has another person who completes the paperwork that is required on his behalf. (Jeff 2004) The current gun distribution channels are however very effective and they in Jeff, C. (2004): include; The corrupt dealers The straw purchases. The large volume sales The gun shows The incomplete background checks The inadequate security The unsafe designs The whistle blower revelations This reveals that there are counter marketing strategies which have been instigated so as to discourage the demand of the guns from the unwanted customers as well as discourage the sales of the guns from also the unwanted customers. The channels that are currently being used have a frame work that do not safeguard the fire arms manufacturers and the distributors who have not implemented measures that prevent the illegal gun diversion. However the current gun distribution channels will be used for the new products since they are very effective. For instance in managing the dealer networks the gun manufacturers and also the distributors do not terminate the sales to the dealers who do not perform the mandatory background checks or the dealers who do not operate from a retail store. On the other hand gun distributors and manufacturers do not halt the sales to dealers who have known criminal records or those who have sold a huge number of guns that have later been used in crimes. New distribution channels to be added to accommodate the new firearm products There are various new distribution channels that can be added so as to accommodate the new product or service. These channels will however incorporate some aspects of the current distribution channels. (J. Bonderman 1993) Competition distribution channels The competition on the other hand uses various distribution channels that are not being currently used by the planning organization so as to grab more customers. They however have distribution features that give them an added advantage over their competitors which include; The serial number tracking. Federal firearm license number tracking. Conformation to the local firearm legislation. Efficient warehouse management. Shipping verification. Expected future developments The following are the expected future developments in the launch gun safety programs; There will be reduction in the gun distribution to the wrong hands as well as gun violence. This will then lead to the reduction of gun violence in most pars of the world. There will be a limitation on the access and ownership of guns and this will ensure that only the legally certified individuals have the right to access the guns. There will be a limitation in carrying the concealed weapons. There will be tough rules on the background checks which are required on the weapons and the waiting periods and this will limit the circulation and distribution of the guns to the criminals and the juveniles as well. There will be very strict measures on the licensing of the gun owners and this will ensure that there will be limitation to the people who will be licensed to own the guns. There will be a limitation on the purchases of the guns as well as the regulation of the private sales and this will however ensure that the distribution and the purchasing of the guns are controlled. (Brady center 2007) There will also be a ban on the assault weapons. Many gun companies will be held liable for the unsafe distribution of weapons as well as the dangerous distribution of weapons. There will be various communities policing and faith based coalitions which will monitor the distribution of the guns in their communities. The future developments will affect how the consumers will purchase the firearms and also from where the will purchase them. Similarly the anticipated future developments when the consumers will purchase the firearms. These developments will limit the consumers such that they it will not be easy to access the weapons through straw purchases as well as the kitchen table dealers. If these developments also take place the distribution of the guns will be closely monitored by the concerned authorities and this will however reduce the access of these guns to the criminals and the illegal distributions.
