This will give me an in-depth understanding of what it takes for one to be employed in such a position in any given organization. It will also help me understand what it takes for one to work within an industry that I am interested in and the qualifications required for one to work there. This interview is crucial in that it will inform me on the various options which I can plot my career path on, focusing on the aspirations of this particular job position. This experience of interviewing an individual in this job position will help me set some professional goals for myself that include; getting into the job and climbing the ladder in that particular field to an executive manager. I selected these goals since they are related with my purpose for this informational interview. The whole experience would give me a first-hand experience of what it takes for one to work in that particular job. On the other hand, I will get some tips from individuals working in this industry on how to succeed. Professional biography I got the chance to interview Scot Williams, the current executive research manager at FHI 360. A Non-governmental Organization that focuses on human development. In my informational interview I was able to learn that Scott William is a Bachelor of Arts Science and Economics graduate from Indiana University. He is also pursuing his research master’s degree at Monash University. His email address is scott101williams@gmail.com. Here is a look into his professional biography. Williams’s career started off in an advertising company where he was employed as a researcher. In his two years in the company, it grew to be the largest advertising company in Indiana. This led to him being promoted to an executive researcher's position. He was in charge of researching the potential market niche for the company. After two years with the company, William decided to change careers and thus moved to work in an investment Company by the name Investor Inc. With the company facing a lot of financial difficulties due to the economic constrains facing the country at that time, this was a risky but bold move for Williams. He started off as a junior researcher, being the only researcher in the company because it had been forced to lay off quite a huge number of employees in the previous year. Diligently he focussed on offering his best. Williams started working and in six months the fruits of his labour could be seen, the company started to pick- up. The company formidably grew and it became one of the most reputable companies in New York. Williams was promoted after a year to a research executive manager, but his tenure in the company was short lived. After 2 years and six months, he got a better opportunity in FHI 360. In the year 2013, he joined the organization and started off as a mid-level employee. After only six months Williams got a promotion and became the supervisor of the junior-level researchers in the organization. In the year 2015, he got another promotion to a research executive manager in the organization, the job position he currently holds. In line with this, it also provides education and proper medical care to the less fortunate. This industry works with professional researchers who conduct detailed research on how best to execute various projects started with the goal of improving the livelihood of the less fortunate in the society. The interview summary and reflection The interview gave me a first-hand experience to learn what it’s like working in this job and how best I can handle it. The general experience was to give me an inside perspective of what the job position entails before making any informed decisions. On the other hand, this was also a good way to network into the organization. Aside from learning what the job entails this was also a good experience in that I got to practice my interviewing skills without the need of conducting a formal job interview. It was a great opportunity for me to make a great impression to my potential employer by positioning myself as someone that an employer would love to have at their organization and in extension their team. Aside from marketing myself, I conducted the information interview to boost my communication skills and self-esteem. Being an introvert, I knew I had to boost my communication skills for me to make it in this profession. Thus, I decided to take up the challenge of conducting an informational interview. This experience helped me gain the information I need to choose and refine my career path. It also helped me get access to the company and got to know a few other employees, which in return proved vital in improving my confidence and self-esteem. My main take away from this particular interview was the importance of diligence and hard work in this profession. I learnt this through my interview with Scott Williams, thus, one has to embrace diligence and hard work in order to succeed. In highlighting this two issues William informed me that this is quite a well-paying job, however, the job does not guarantee any job security. This was a clear indication on how aggressive and diligent William was and that can be attributed to his success in his fruitful career. Interview Questions 1.
