number The analysis of a brief text on Employee motivation at work Introduction Motivation is an extremely important aspect of organizations today in the way it leads to organizational success. It is an important component through which managers ensure that they focus on other employees and offer them the will to continue working towards the goals and objectives of the organization. With motivation today, most employees feel that they have been integrated within the activities of the organization, which include decision making. With this, they are able to put more efforts in their organizational activities since participation in most of the organizations is made mandatory and hence reduce the amount of staff turnover. Thus the organization is able to increase the amount of profits it makes since it increases its level of customer satisfaction and retention (Pinder, 2008). From the article, it is a clear fact that motivation plays a significant role in fulfilling the promise for personal improvement as well as that of the organization. It is shown in the way that the employees at the WestLake Computing Corporation (WCC) are provided with diversity training programs that help them to know how to work within a workforce that is highly diverse. Usually the small problems that are identified within an organization serve as a greater revelation of the main issues that are affecting the overall performance of the organization. One of this is motivation, which although may appear to be a minor issue is a very relevant component towards the success of the organization. It thus reveals that there is a lot of motivation that still needs to be offered below the surface hence an indication of the high capability contained in each individual to perform extraordinarily. For instance, the employees in this organization are given the details, case applications or examples and regulation to provide employment regulations with which they raise their capabilities in dealing with different situations within an environment with multiple cultures (Pinder, 2008). The article provides a lot of insight regarding the need for motivation at the workplace in relation to the total organizational performance. It is also encouraging in the sense that it is written on a positive perspective and not with the intention to offer criticisms. In relation to the case, it helps to speed up most important issues within the organization that include the expansion of sales to international levels. According to the author, it is the organizational behavior class that helps individuals to point out towards some of the solutions towards attaining high performance within an organization. It shows that if only motivation within an organization can be slightly improved, then it does not matter whether an individual is considered to be high above or even below the iceberg in relation to the example of the iceberg provided. It only requires a great promise to achieve all that is there to be attained and much more. With all these, the article is extremely remarkable in the sense that it is written from a lot of experience that is attained both from the observation of the behavior class as well as first hand teaching experience. It reveals the kind of rich and reliable information from which the article is written. This is also attained from the factory manager at Indianapolis. It is through this that the writer provides proper examples through the interaction between the farm manager and the university students. It is especially through the provided the example that a good idea is brought up in the sense that few people can do so much work if they are only motivated. Thus, people do not work in a farm as big as that which was visited by the students. It is in this sense that it also implies that a lot of people can be hired to do a small job. However, if they are not adequately motivated, they might end up not being able to perform at the capacity required (Pinder, 287). It is clearly made that motivation alone is also not important. One of the other factors that have to be incorporated is the leadership aspect within motivation. It supports the fact that most people should not think about the issue of organizational motivation in isolation as a single entity. With this, managers are likely to be aware of the appropriate steps, methods and mechanisms to employ on different people during varied times and when particular results are expected. It is true that the writer that motivation is one of the topics which is mostly studied in the area of social studies. In this sense, there are numerous topics and articles that are written on motivation and leadership that enable managers to know how to go about the process in order to achieve enhanced performance within the organization. This is because there has also been an increased rate of research that is performed on the issue to discern the best ways with it can be applied to enhance the performance of an organization. They are also very important in helping individuals to solve different problems that are likely to result from the strategies employed as a form of motivation. Therefore, it is expected to bring about motivation among employees within an organization in the general relation of what results in a raised iceberg. There is a highly strong point in the effect that the good insights provided by those who work on motivation should be followed so that the entire organization can achieve success. At WCC they show that they take the issue of motivation in a serious way as it helps to bring real value to the activities of the firm. They are extremely diligent towards diversity training hence its incorporation within their policies (Pinder 350). The article highlights that there are over 8 strategies and competing models with which motivation can be realized within an organization. The issue of motivation is presented like the essential element that it is with the revelation that many other people are working on the different aspects of motivation that will lead to the improvement of organizational activities and hence performance. In this case, the importance of motivation in improving the performance of an organization is underscored through the activities at WCC (Pinder, 2008). The idea of motivation can be easily accessed after training is offered to the employees. One of the ways through which it is achieved is through the taking of a performance test as many times as possible and letting the employees take the knowledge test as proof of success. The training program is placed as a motivation for employees since it is conducted in a nearby hotel. In addition, it is given sufficient time for employees to attend whenever they are free and each time they feel it is appropriate. The fee offered to the employees on attendance is also an immense form of motivation. With this, they are not required to convert the day into a holiday or request debit for the day. However, a number of adjustments need to be made with regard to the program. The employees need to be more motivated by adjusting the topic during the training to make it more applicable at the place of work. The time also needs to be adjusted to ensure that working times are not interfered with. In addition, all of the top managers are required to be cooperative in the effort to motivate employees and achieve desirable results within the organization (Pinder, 58). Motivation and leadership have been greatly linked to the performance in organizations. The use of motivational strategies by managers helps to improve the attitudes of employees and the subsequent improvement of activities in the organization. It is because of this that it has been highly written about by many people. A lot of research has been conducted while many other research studies are being conducted to realize how motivation can be used to achieve its intended results. Many others are also underway which makes it evident that the improvement of organizational performance is one of the key steps towards the achievement of success by the organization.
