Extract of sample "Family of the Hearts"

Family of the Hearts To me family is a collection of different people who have some sort of blood relationship with each other. Family provides a person with care, love, and support in all fields of life. Without family, a person feels very alone in the world particularly those people who leave their families to go to other parts of the world either for education and employment purposes. For such people, the charm of celebrations and cultural festivals also become less because they do not have their loved ones with them with whom they can enjoy those festivals.

I am also one of such individuals. My whole family lives in China and I spending my time alone in America for education. From my experiences of living alone, I have realized that family is one of the most important parts of my life without which I feel very lonely and sad at times. Beginning of my life in America without authentic family was not all-smooth sailing. I faced many difficulties in the start regarding education, residence, and social integration. I did not have any one from my family with whom I could share my problems freely.

I lived in a host family but there I felt loneliness and social isolation because I did not feel easy at sharing my issues with others and that situation led to misunderstandings between us at times. I did not have a good understanding of the foreign culture because of which I faced difficulty in making friends and communicating with the people of other cultures. Living in the host family, there were too many procedures for me of all dissimilar cultures to understand. For example, I had to understand the norms and values of different cultures in order to be able to communicate effectively with the people of those cultures.

Similarly, I had to understand the emotions and way of life of other people in order to become a functioning and responsible part of the host family. One thing that I noticed in America was that all the young adults of that country are so independent that they do not have any sentiments of be taken care of by their parents. They think with their own mind, plan things on their own, and do what they feel right. In short, I would say that they do not leave it for their parents to think about their future.

Summing it up, family is definitely one of the most important parts of the life of any person without which a person feels very lonely and sad at times. One can create the definition of a family by many different ways but the real and authentic meaning for the family is to live with people having emotions and feelings for each other. A person living with his/her family is able to enjoy life more than a person living alone. Therefore, after completing my education if I will have to decide whether I should live alone in America or with my family, I will definitely vote to live with my family.
